About Me
I help children embrace creativity & curiosity through engaging music lessons.
Helping children Embrace Their Creativity & Curiosity!
So many parents remember piano lessons as sitting straight, hours of focusing on posture and a teacher meticulously correcting every mistake made. But I DON’T teach that way!
Through my Playtime Piano method children smile and laugh through their lessons. I believe that engaged learners stick with it and will become the musicians they were born to be.
Children learn through all their senses so I love bringing in toys and objects to play with that will reinforce their learning. Colorful objects and everyday toys help them apply their learning outside of lessons.
Students learn essential music skills like note reading, theory, and history as well as learning to create their own music through composing and improvising.
My students are known to love practicing outside of lessons. They also love sharing and applying the music skills they learn through composing, performing, and accompanying.
It All Began With Twinkle Twinkle
My love for music was first ignited by my grandmother, a teacher herself, she instilled in me a love for learning and an unquenchable thirst for music
My grandmother taught me everything from my first sounds, reading, knitting, and learning to play the piano.
She also insisted that all five of her grandchildren take violin lessons with her! I still remember being crammed into an old rusty 1970’s station wagon with my sister, three cousins, and five violins on our way to lessons.
It was there where I learned the first strains of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Give me a violin and I can still play that first variation by ear!
After receiving my college and masters degrees in music education I finally found my passion of engaging young children in fun musical learning on the piano.
